As we begin the renovation project in Carmel, Indiana so many have wondered why Carmel? Why this particular neighborhood?
It all started several years ago when VERSATEX VP of Sales, Rick Kapres, traveled to Carmel to visit his sister and brother in law. She lived in a stunning community; The Trails at Hayden Run. One morning he decided to go for a jog and check out the neighborhood.
It was the mid 2000's. The area was booming and homes were built in the 500K-600K range. Most homes were similar. Single family homes with large brick fronts and fiber cement siding. However, being in the building industry and especially working with cellular PVC trim, one thing was glaringly obvious to Rick. Wood spruce was used on all of the trim applications and it was deteriorating in the worst way. Every corner, fascia, under each bay window and each column was rotting, peeling and cracking. At the time the home was only 7-8 years old and as Rick looked at the rest of the house, he knew something needed to be done. This family and this neighborhood should know that there was another way. A product to match the warranty of fiber cement siding and the lifetime stamina of brick.
Earlier this year a plan began to take shape. VERSATEX was able to partner with local Carmel builder, John Babcock with Renovation PLUS, who will graciously donate his time and labor and we will donate the materials to transform the exterior trim of one home in the neighborhood.
We are very excited to take you step by step throughout the entire project. Week by week we will be showing the process of renovating the exterior trim package. We aim to educate the community and others as to what a difference it makes when the wood is removed and VERSATEX is added to create a completely bullet proof home.
