In a lakeside community about 70 miles south of Buffalo sits the world famous Chautauqua Institute. Established in 1874 and listed as a National Historic Landmark, the Institute is open just nine weeks each summer. Every summer season brings high level instruction and performance in the arts to life, along with lectures on social and religious issues of the day from world renowned scholars.
Over 100,000 people from around the country visit each season, many returning to their summer homes that feature unique personal beauty. Every home, however, must have the ability to maintain such beauty through harsh Western New York winters.
